Heaven is set in the Irish midlands, during the weekend of a local wedding. Mairead and Mal are struggling to keep their marriage together. Perhaps attending a wedding will help, or it might raise questions that are difficult to answer.
Batsu!

Mythos: Ragnarök
Mythos: Ragnarök is a ground-breaking and thrilling show at this year’s Fringe in which a cast of actors, who specialise in professional wrestling, create some of the most intense and thrilling fight scenes ever seen in a theatrical setting. This revolutionary show sees Odin and Loki in their struggle to overcome primaeval giants, rival Gods and Goddesses, and each other’s ambitions in this dark comic adaption of Norse mythology.

Australia's best jugglers bring 'Escalate' featuring virtuosic juggling, innovative lighting, and relentless energy to Underbelly at the Edinburgh Fringe. Throw Catch Collective push the boundaries of their art with a unique eye for musicality and timing.
Thrown
Glasgow-based writer, actor and movement specialist Nat McCleary joins forces with director and performer Johnny McKnight to create a uniquely Scottish play, Thrown. It is being performed as part of this year’s Edinburgh International Festival, between 3rd and 27th August at the Traverse Theatre.
Dark Noon
The cast of Cowboys, Native Americans, Missionaries and Gold Seekers in the Wild West street in Morningside, Edinburgh, before high tailing it to rehearsals for their UK Premier of Dark Noon. Performance dates 2nd – 27th August at Pleasance at EICC (not 9th, 16th or 23rd) at 5:00pm.
No Love Songs
Inspired by the real-life experiences of Laura and Kyle, the story follows two new parents grappling with the challenges of parenthood and the weight of postnatal depression. Through a powerful blend of music, tears, and laughter, the audience is taken on a heartfelt journey as they navigate the ups and downs of their new life together. The play runs from 3 to 27 August at the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh.

The Royal Scottish Academy celebrates the lives and work of Elizabeth Blackadder and John Houston in a major exhibition, A Journey Shared, focusing on their travels, research and studio practices.
Edinburgh International Film Festival Programme Launch
Edinburgh International Film Festival, which this year is hosted by Edinburgh International Festival, returns for a six-day celebration of bold and eclectic cinema at the heart of the world’s biggest celebration of arts. Festival director Kate Taylor is joined by members of this year’s programming team to show off their new festival brochure, set against the picturesque background of Edinburgh University’s Old College Quad.
Red Arrows Fly Past
The Red Arrows display team flies over Edinburgh Castle as part of the events to mark the Coronation of HM King Charles III and HM Queen Camilla.
Bo’ness Children’s Fair Arches
Billed as the biggest children’s festival in Europe, the Bo’ness Fair brings together children from the schools in the West Lothian town. Part of the tradition is the reaction of ‘arches’ in front of the principal characters’ houses, often costing thousands of pounds.
NT Art Month
Galleries prepare for the inaugural NT Art Month running throughout Edinburgh’s New Town this June. NT Art Month is a brand new month-long celebration of the arts quarter in Edinburgh’s New Town, which will run at 14 venues from 8 June to 30 June 2023.
Making Britain Work for Scotland
The Think Tank, Our Scottish Future, set up by Gordon Brown, holds a rally in Edinburgh, making the case for a plan that makes Britain work for Scotland. Speakers include Gordon Brown, Mark Drakeford, Anas Sarwar and Andy Burnham.
When the Apple Ripens: Peter Howson at 65
A major retrospective of one of the UK’s leading figurative painters, Peter Howson, opens at Edinburgh’s City Art Centre on 27 May until 1 October 2023. The exhibition will unite around 100 works spanning the artist’s career, many never seen before in Scotland.
ECA Performance Costume Show
Magical costumes inspired by The Wombles, the film Chicken Run and a Stephen King novel are among the creations being showcased by Edinburgh College of Art students. The outfits and performers will command centre stage at a theatrical show at the Queen’s Hall, Edinburgh, on 26 May, revealing the creations of students studying Performance Costume.
RSA Exhibition 2023
Now in its 197th year, the RSA Annual Exhibition provides a platform for contemporary painting, sculpture, film, printmaking, photography and installation, alongside work by some of the country’s leading architects. The exhibition at the Royal Scottish Academy Galleries in Edinburgh runs from 6 May - 11 June 2023.
Kaffe Fassett - The Power of Pattern
Kaffe Fassett: The Power of Pattern at Dovecot Studios will open to the public Friday 31st March. Running until Saturday 8th July 2023, the exhibition is curated by textile guru Kaffe Fassett and Dennis Nothdruft from the Fashion and Textile Museum. Including over 70 colourful, eclectic pieces, this exhibition draws on artworks from invited international makers inspired by Kaffe Fassett, as well as quilts, cushions, clothes and archival material.
Edinburgh International Children’s Festival launch
The Edinburgh International Children’s Festival launches with school children staging a protest in the playground of Forthview Primary School brandishing posters featuring the festival image as well as slogans referencing the UNCRC (UN Convention on the Rights of the Child).
New Contemporaries
Now in its 14th year, the RSA New Contemporaries exhibition offers a unique opportunity to see some of the best-emerging talent in Scotland under one roof. Showcasing 57 graduates selected from the 2021 degree shows, the exhibition features a diverse array of painting, sculpture, film-making, photography, printmaking, installation, performance and architecture.
Edinburgh Chinese New Year Launch
Organisers of Edinburgh’s Chinese New Year Festival announce a full programme of events and activities across the city to celebrate Chinese New Year and the start of The Year of the Rabbit. The programme, which includes the Official Chinese New Year Concert, a performance of Mulan, a bilingual Ceilidh and a fabulous light show at Edinburgh Castle, also offers online calligraphy, music and Tai Chi workshops and runs from Friday 20 January to Friday, 3 February 2023
