Pleasance Launch
With over 250 shows making up this years’ programme, The Pleasance launches its 2022 Edinburgh Fringe Festival programme.
Rusalka - Edinburgh International Festival
A new production of Dvořák's opera featuring Natalya Romaniw comes to the International Festival with the Philharmonia Orchestra, Douglas Boyd and Garsington Opera. Performances take place at the Festival Theatre on 6 - 9 August 2022.
Burn
Burn is a new creation from the Scottish actor and author Alan Cumming and the choreographer Steven Hoggett, featuring the music of Anna Meredith. The show challenges the ‘biscuit tin’ image of Robert Burns and goes beyond the poetry to focus on the man himself – his poverty, personal tragedy, mental health struggles and spectacular success.
Freedom Ballet of Ukraine
The spectacular, world-renowned Ukrainian ballet company, Freedom Ballet, are making the journey from Kyiv to celebrate the company’s 20th anniversary at the Edinburgh Fringe. This adaptation of their hit show Boudoir is about the moment of life when knowing yourself, your love and your loss, you can truly see yourself in the mirror. Credits include performing with Franco Dragone, legendary director of Cirque de Soleil, and sharing the stage with Dita Von Teese, Queen of Burlesque Cabaret.
Edinburgh Fringe Starts

World’s Smallest Whisky Bar
Independent whisky bottler, Cask 88 have set up the World’s Smallest Whisky Bar in Edinburgh as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. With room for one customer, the bar man will serve a selection of drams from the Cask 88 range
Leon Morrocco -Long Road Home
Coinciding with Leon Morocco’s 80th birthday, the Royal Scottish Academy mounts a significant homecoming exhibition of the artists work, Long Road Home. Encompassing 65 years of practice, the exhibition includes early drawings, previously unseen paintings and a selection of Morrocco’s most recent work.

RAPHAEL: Magister Raffaell
World-renowned tapestry studio Dovecot presents the life and work of Renaissance Master Raphael (1483–1520) in a landmark digital exhibition and tapestry marking his 500th anniversary. In partnership with the Italian Cultural Institute and Magister Art.

The Royal Scottish Academy present new bodies of work from eight artists, supported by RSA Residencies for Scotland, whose practices all share a strong connection to the landscape.
Alan Davie: : Beginning of a Far-off World
Dovecot Studios launches Alan Davie: Beginning of a Far-off World, a centenary exhibition celebrating the work of Scottish artist Alan Davie (1920-2014). Featuring rarely seen works from each decade of his career, this exhibition is a tribute to one of the great figures of 20th Century Scottish Art. The exhibition runs from 24 June to 24 September 2022.
Holyrood Dog of the Year
Holyrood goes barking mad as the Holyrood Dog of the Year competition returns to Edinburgh for the fourth year. The event is to highlight the unique role dogs play in society and provide MSPs with the opportunity to raise key canine issues.
Scottish Gallery New Exhibitions
Edinburgh’s Scottish Gallery launches three new exhibitions. An exhibition of paintings by the artist Helen Glassford, Encounters; The artist and sculptor Lizzie Farey has created a new series of wall pieces and 3D sculptural work, The Song of the Willow. Colin Brown’s new exhibition, Primavera, pays homage to the 18th century Belgian flower painter Pierre-Joseph Redouté.
Van Gogh Lights Up Edinburgh
A large-scale projection of a series of Van Gogh’s most timeless works on the Melville Monument, against the iconic backdrop of St Andrew Square. To coincide with the anniversary of Van Gogh’s Birthday, The multi-sensory exhibition created and produced by Grande Experiences, Van Gogh Alive, is celebrating by lighting up some of Edinburgh’s most iconic locales over the next 5 nights.
